USE YOUR VOICE – WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT 100 Years After Women Gained the Right to Vote

ATLANTA, Ga., April 27th, 2020

Women leaders of multinational corporations will tell the world how COVID-19 has forever altered the way they live and conduct business and – how they found the courage to use their voice during this crisis and earlier in their careers, which has enabled them to move into these top jobs at the most highly regarded companies in America. August 2020 marks 100 years since ratification of the 19th Amendment gave women in America the right to vote. “However, most white suffragists did not help their Black sisters. The fact is, Black women really could not vote until 1965 with the passage of the Voting Rights Act. Still today, Black women encounter the combined obstacles of racism and gender discrimination. We’ll address how we can all use our power and voice to combat inequities at work,” says PINK CEO Cynthia Good. At PINK’s Women’s Empowerment Event on Friday, August 28th, 2020 from Noon-1:30pm in Atlanta and broadcast live, some of the world’s most influential business leaders will weigh in on how they achieved their career goals. “It is not so easy,” says Cynthia, whose company consults with Fortune 500 organizations committed to advancing women and diversity. “Too many women are still reluctant to speak up in corporate cultures and in a society that too often penalizes women for trying to be heard, as well as for staying quiet.” At the upcoming PINK Empowerment Event, attendees will find out how the panelists broke through barriers.

While this event is sold out, thanks to PINK’s sponsors, a live broadcast is available for free to all members of the PINK community; anyone is welcome to participate as long as they are signed up to receive the free monthly newsletter. Those watching or attending in person, will be privy to success strategies and what did and did not work for the speakers which include Irma Shrivastava, US Chief Marketing Officer, Randstad; Sue Schmidlkofer, Diversity and Inclusion Director, UPS; Jennifer Hightower, Vice President of Law and Policy and General Counsel, Cox Communications; Pamela Stewart, Senior Vice President National Retail Sales, The Coca-Cola Company and moderated by CBS46 Anchor Karyn Greer. Attendees will enjoy a beautiful lunch while being inspired by stories of empowerment from the panelists. Event sponsors include PINK’s Technology Sponsor Cox Enterprises as well as Gold Sponsors; Truist and UPS, and Bronze Sponsors; The Home Depot, Southern Company, The Coca-Cola Company and Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.

The Atlanta Ballet, selected as PINK’s featured nonprofit, will be selling pink face masks to raise funds for dance. One hundred percent of donations and drawing proceeds will go to the Atlanta Ballet. PINK event attendees have contributed more than $100,000 in donations to such nonprofits over the years.

Plus, guests will walk away with one of PINK’s legendary gift bags filled with awesome swag! PINK asks you to WEAR WHITE in honor of the suffragettes who had the courage to use their voice and their power to earn the vote, while acknowledging that Black women were undermined.
