Job Description
Merakey is currently seeking a Therapeutic Support Staff to join our Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services division in Philadelphia, PA County.
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, education, criminal justice, or similar human service field, with no previous work experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree in any other field, with the equivalent of at least one year of full-time paid work experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents; OR Licensed registered nurses, with the equivalent of at least one year of full-time paid work experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents; OR Associate’s Degree, or sixty credits toward a Bachelor’s Degree, with the equivalent of at least three years of full-time paid work experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents; OR Licensed practical nurses, with the equivalent of at least three years of full-time paid work experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents
POSITION DETAILS
Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS) workers are responsible for providing one-on-one mental health services to at-risk children and adolescents. These children generally have an emotional or mental disturbance and may have spent time in an out-of-home treatment facility. TSS workers provide services in schools, in the child’s home or in the community.
Responsibilities include:
Help the child/adolescent eliminate inappropriate behavior(s)
Give one-on-one support to children or adolescents with special learning needs
- Follow the treatment plan
- Help the child/adolescent eliminate inappropriate behavior(s)
- Provide emotional support to the child
- Assist those responsible for the child in fostering greater independence and socially responsible behavior
- Encourage social integration and participation in group activities
- Document/Record data and chart progress of the child/adolescent
- Work under the clinical supervision of one or more Master’s level therapists (BSC/MT)
