Job Description

Hours Patients are treated:

6:00am-11:00am Mon-Fri, 6:00am-9:00am Sat; CLOSED SUNDAY

The Program Nurse typically arrives 30 minutes before patient hours begin and works roughly 1 hour after patient hours end.

The program is CLOSED for federal and state holidays (including Thanksgiving and the Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administer daily medication to patients in accordance with the physician’s order and program policy, including Methadone and Buprenorphine (i.e., Subutex, Suboxone)
  • Receive and document medication units prepared by the onsite pharmacy prior to administration to the patients
  • Produce and maintain appropriate records and reports as required by program policy and the rules and regulations promulgated by the State of Georgia, SAMHSA, and DEA
  • Perform medical history & physical examinations, in conjunction with the Medical Director, for each patient upon admission to the program at annually thereafter
  • Perform onsite venipuncture and collection of urine specimens for laboratory analysis with history & physical examinations or as otherwise ordered by the Medical Director
  • Provide daily assessment of patients
  • Work with the Medical Director to ensure appropriate, safe, and adequate medication dose amounts
  • Work as a critical member of the program’s multidisciplinary team of counselors/therapists, physicians, nurses, administrators, pharmacists, and peer support specialists to afford patients a collaborative and comprehensive approach to the treatment of opioid use disorder that addresses the bio-psycho-social aspects of their disorder
  • Other related duties as determined by supervisor


  • Current & good standing LPN or RN license in the State of Georgia
  • Current CPR certification required
  • EMR & computer proficiency desired
  • Previous experience working with patients diagnosed with substance use disorders preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience in the provision of medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder in a Narcotic Treatment Program or office based opioid treatment setting a plus
  • Must commit to a non-judgmental and therapeutic attitude toward individuals seeking treatment for opioid use disorder
  • A desire to combat the opioid crisis through the provision of evidence based practices that put science and research ahead of preconceived societal stigma and attitudes toward substance use disorders

Salary: $15.00 to $19.00 /hour
