Health Information Managers have the heavy task of managing and maintaining health information ranging from informing staff and patients of new laws and regulations to keeping inventory and watching expenses of health facility.
Job Responsibilities
Organize and review facility finances to make sure information is accurate (ranges from expenses of facility to billing of patients)
Create work schedules for staff
Strategically plan on ways to improve quality and image of facility
Represent facility at investor meetings and other work related meetings or galas
Supervise assistant administrators
Manage inventory and organize records related to facility
Inform staff (and at time patients) of current health regulations and laws
Education & Training
Bachelors’ degree is minimum required education ; Masters’ degrees have become very common

Most people are hired based on internship and background experience
Degrees accepted include: public health, public administration, health services (mainly careers public health services related)
Graduate programs may last 2-3 years with 1 year supervised training
License and/or Certification
No license or certifications required but must have degree
